Relational Organizing

The evidence is clear, we are the best advocates to the people already in our lives. Let’s face it: voting is personal. Not everyone is ready or willing to engage with sensitive topics with strangers. However, our parents, neighbors, cousins, friends, classmates, and everyone in between value your opinion because those relationships have already been built.

Relational organizing is just that, leveraging existing relationships to increase civic precipitation in our networks. Other voter outreach efforts are essential and needed, but if we don’t engage with the ones around us first, engaging with strangers is not the best effort over out put.

Digital Door Knocking

For those who use it, social media has become an extension of the self. Though that is its own conversation, we ought to make use of the circumstances as they are. With so much information and relationship building occurring in the digital space, it is important that voter outreach and civic engagement expand to include the same.

Our digital door knocking strategy is grounded in utilizing our present social media habits to move the needle in the direction we want. You like to tweet? Remind your followers to vote this year and every year. You run a microblog highlighting your niche hobby? Niche hobbyists should be voting too!

Phonebanking

The tried and true method as old as Mr. Graham Bell. PHONEBANKING is essential to the outreach process as an efficient means of contact and a direct link to voters everyday. Phonebanking can be grueling work, I mean who/s answering the phone these days? However, often enough, you’ll call a person that turns into THAT conversation needed to align someones political outlook with their personal needs.

Elections are won one vote at a time and when elections are repeatedly won by less than .5% of the voting population, YOUR VOTE COUNTS!

Canvassing

THE GOLD STANDARD!

Ask any organizer about canvassing and they’ll tell you it’s tiring work but it wins elections. Walking our communities, meeting our neighbors at their doors, is the perfect place to engage in the sensitive political conversations we need to strengthen our democracy on a foundational level.
